THE LISBON LIONS

The new issue of Four Four Two magazine, on sale May 2, will carry a major feature on the Lisbon Lions, written by Chris Hunt. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Celtic’s famous victory over Inter Milan in the the 1967 European Cup final, Chris has tracked down four members of the victorious Celtic team and four fans who were in Lisbon for the historic match. Their stories make compelling reading.

Of the surviving players, the interviewees include captain Billy McNeill, winning goalscorer Stevie Chalmers, plus John Clark and Bobby Lennox. The fans also have many interesting stories to tell, including one who sold his house to pay for his trip and had to face divorce on his return.
